People who suffer from depression should participate in yoga and deep (Coherent) breathing classes at least twice weekly plus practice at home to receive a significant reduction in their symptoms. Ref. Source 1h.
Yoga more risky for causing musculoskeletal pain than you might think. Yoga causes musculoskeletal pain in 10 percent of people and exacerbates 21 percent of existing injuries, research shows. The findings come from the first prospective study to investigate injuries caused from recreational participation in yoga. The injury rate is up to 10 times higher than has previously been reported. At the child care center I work at, we have begun adding 'mindfulness' into our day, which can include yoga. The kids seem to really respond to it well!
Since I've been temporarily laid off, I have taken on a 30 Day Yoga Challenge I found on Youtube, although I have missed a day or three. Never in a row, though, so I feel good about it! I'm on Day 20!
