God's Will To Have Children - Page 3

There is a common cop out that people like to use:

I believe God commanded us to multiply and replenish the earth, but I do not believe he intended on one family doing it.

To which I answer...

Wasn't it one family that the commandment was originally given to, and aren't we part of that family?

Children To Gods

Name: Helper

Comments: God will to have children? Yes, Yes, I believe so, Why? Well in having a child You will experience just how much Love you can have for that child and how much you want to provide the best for that child and Mostly, how you want that child to know You when they grow up. This is why God wants us to have Children for we are Created in the Image and Likeness of God... And I believe this is why we have this Hunger to see if there is a God.... God says in the Bible, Seek me and You will find Me.... Helper

Comments: I read the comments and thought they were interesting and made sense from different points of views. I would like to offer my opinion too. Nighthawk--you were right, one of Gods first commandments to men was to be fruitful, replenish, and multiply the earth.

Tostagee-- you questioned the validity of scripture to multiply the Earth for example and maybe that it doesn't apply today. However, We have to take the old principles and apply them to modern times. Otherwise, what's the purpose of the Bible? Principle. Unfortunately, I feel you are naturally making a comparison based on "worldly" or "cultural" vies. That interfere to a degree with God's commandments. God also gives us Stewardship. We must allow the Lord to lead us and be obedient in his will concerning our offspring. Stewardship is the ability to decide what and how much you can handle. Such as your health, stress, feeling like God is guiding you to stop...whatever. I don't think It means that your disobedient to Gods commands if you decide not to devote your life to having as many children as you can.

Also, I don't think that God says because the world has 6billion people to stop reproducing or rely on limitations. I think people and mankind decided that based on worldly views alone. Although, I can see how it makes sense, but it is important to make distinctions and try to block out the "worldly" views.

One more thing-- If a young healthy couple decides not to reproduce, it is not a sin. Again, that's where stewardship comes in. Children should be beard for the right reasons if you can handle them, etc. That's just my opinion anyway. I would like to here more of your perspectives, it's nice to learn from others point of views.
