This is good news for the USA and for the world. This is an indication of Russia's contracting economy. Russia's economy is mostly based on exporting natural resources and since their prices, for the most part, have been stable to falling their economy has gone in the same direction. They have realized that they can't sustain the spending levels of the past and their build up will also either slow down dramatically or stop all together. They'll have to either pay for maintenance, exercises to keep their troops proficient, or the build up. They can't do it all any more.

Putin orders to draft over 140,000 men into army this spring;

Russian lawmakers have been discussing proposals to increase the draft age ceiling from the current 27 years to 30 or 35 years. This initiative is due to be discussed already this autumn. Ref. Source 2t.

Their economy is in a shambles. It's time for them to realize they can't compete with us economically and back off the military.

The economy of Russia is not good but maybe having some in the military will open up a few other jobs for others so that they can work on getting things back on track. Is this a solution? Perhaps not but it could be a step in the right direction to help booster their economy. More steps are needed but one has to start with that first step somewhere.

The issue is that is wasted money. They should pump that money into infrastructure. It'll produce more jobs and leave the country in a better position.

Russia's military has lost more than 10% of the combat force that President Vladimir Putin sent to invade Ukraine, US assessment shows. The Russian combat force in Ukraine has dipped slightly below 90% for the first time in the nearly one-month war, a senior U.S. Defense official said. Russian forces remain largely stalled across Ukraine, particularly around the capital of Kyiv, where their closest forces remain about 10 miles from the city’s center. Source 4u.
