What Is Charisma?

Current Settings

Charisma is Known as: Charm
You must have this many posts to use Charisma: 30
You can give Charisma to the same person every: 2 Days
If you have below this Charisma you will not be able to post: -1
You can type this many characters when describing Charisma: 70
You must have this much Charisma to earn a '+' on your title: 70

Q. What is Charisma?
A. Charisma is an indication of how 'good' your posts are. Members can vote every two or more days (Depending on how it is set) for a specific member.

Q. How do I adjust a user's Charisma?
A. Look for anywhere the member has posted. The on the left where their profile information is you will see 'Charm: x pts' and then under that a '+' and '-' sign. Use the '+' for positive Charisma adjustment (In other words, you like the posts of this user). You will then be taken to a page where you have to state your reason for the adjustment.

Q. On the old forum I had Charisma points already but it is gone! How come?
A. We only restored those who are the core of the forum. Everyone else starts from '0'. That's how life is… since we have to manually enter the info it would be impossible for us to restore everyone's Charisma.

Q. Why would I vote negatively?
A. The user posts a message completely offtopic, is rude, is not making sense, is disobeying the forum Rules or you simply do not like the 'tone' of the person's message. However, since your vote is recorded you must make sure you are not using the Charisma points as a 'revenge' tool. Admin can reset your own Charisma at anytime!

Q. I can't post! Why?
A. If you have 'x' negative Charisma you will not be able to post for two days pending investigation. See current settings above.

Charisma What

Q. I noticed that some users have a '+' or '-' before their name, why is that?
A. The '+' shows that user is above average in Charisma and the '-' says the exact opposite.

Q. Does charisma do anything to my posts?
A. No, but your posts certainly does a lot to your charisma!

Q. How can I gain more charisma?
A. There are several ways, but NONE of them should involve soliciting for charisma votes:
1. Give those who deserve charisma feedback, they may in turn return the favor.
2. Be factual, objective and sensible in your messages.
3. Spell properly, avoid too many smiles and slang - this can be very annoying
4. Do not post long off topics and messages that have nothing to do with the subject

What Is Charisma? Feedback & FAQ News Community

Q. I am posting well enough I think, yet no one gives me charisma points, am I doing something wrong?
No, not necessarily, it might be that you are not active enough so members do not see your posts enough to rate you or it just might be that the members in general are lazy?

Q. Can I PM someone to give me charisma in a certain topic?
You should not do this as it may annoy members and they may most certainly give you negative charisma instead of positive.

Q. Is the Charisma rating really a reflection about me as a person?
No! It is just a fun feature here for members to use. Do not think yourself less than another member because your charisma is not as high as theirs...

Charisma What

A lot of people ask where they go to rate and see charisma... the below picture shows a typical profile with an arrow pointing to the '+' and '-' signs. If you click the actual word 'Charisma' then you are taken to a page that gives an overview of why the person received negative or positive Charisma.

Charisma What

Q. Why can't I give Charisma on certain Boards?
A. Boards that are considered not necessarily intellectually mature such as RPGs, Rave, Welcome and Blog Boards may not have a Charisma option.

Q. Why are those Boards considered not ' necessarily intellectual'?
A. They are not intellectual because they do not have a focus, basically the user can write about anything fictional or creative without necessarily any facts. Therefore they do not really constitute a benefit to the Community.

Q. Are there things I should not give Charisma for?
A. You should not award Charisma points just because a user is a buddy, or just because you hope they will give you a Charisma point in return.

Q. How often can I award a user a Charisma point?
A. See first Message in this Thread, but Mods and Admin can give at anytime.

Q. Can charisma be anonymously taken from my account?
A. Only be Admin.

Q. Why would Charisma be taken anonymously from my account?
A. Bots, Mods or Admin have to be constantly correcting your posts or you are always breaking the forum rules / policies. Usually a report is made and Admin can instigate this kind of action. Please note: Usually if you are a trouble maker we do not take the time to adjust charisma - we simply delete your account no matter what your membership status is at present.

Q. I get negative Charisma for bad spelling or grammar, isn't that too harsh?
A. Maybe if this were a mediocre Community, but you have joined an intellectually Mature Community, if you cannot handle it then you may wish to consider your membership here. Besides, Charisma will not be taken away for a couple of misspelt words, it is a blatant disregard for constant warnings that will earn you a negative Charisma Point or maybe even Membership deletion.

Charm Settings and Improvements

Here are some points:

1. The first Message in this Thread contains the current settings by which you can know how Charisma works. If you are ever in doubt then check the first Message.

2. Charm can now be seen in Profile, this is to facilitate Members who are using Skins that do not show Charm in their Posts.

What Charisma

Update: This facility has not been updated in a long while. In an effort to make it one less thing to monitor we have made the reasons that you 'like' someone's Post standard input. This means you merely have to select one of the options given rather than having to write out an explanation as to why you like someone's Post. A great time saver for everyone.
