Should The Church Be Involved In Politics? - Page 2

I think is fine that the Church can speak publicly about abortion, gay marriage and so many other controversial issues but I struggle with the concept of the Church as a body to support or reject legislation with regards to these matters. I don't think the Church as organization should get involved. I am all for supporting or rejecting laws as individuals but not as a religious group.

Politics Involved Church Should

I believe that as members of the church & the church as a whole, we should defend the Constitution of the United States & oppose any laws that they try to pass that are in direct violation with it.

international QUOTE (DC 98:4-7)

And now, verily I say unto you concerning the laws of the land, it is my will that my people should observe to do all things whatsoever I command them.
And that law of the land which is constitutional, supporting that principle of freedom in maintaining rights and privileges, belongs to all mankind, and is justifiable before me.
Therefore, I, the Lord, justify you, and your brethren of my church, in befriending that law which is the constitutional law of the land;
And as pertaining to law of man, whatsoever is more or less than this, cometh of evil.

Should The Church Be Involved In Politics? Studies Doctrine Mormon

Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman Jr. Mull Mormon dilemma

SALT LAKE CITY - Don't expect to hear Mitt Romney talk a lot about being a Mormon if he runs again for president in 2012. The same likely goes for another potential GOP candidate, Jon Huntsman Jr., the U.S. Ambassador to China and a former Utah governor. Ref. Source 4

Come on the average voter is not that gullible especially when they have the media to remind them about their past.

Well if Romney plans to say something contrary to what the Church believes then is better for him not to mention he is a Mormon (like if anyone didn't notice yet) you know what am I am saying? Just stick to politics and let religion aside!
