Freedom To Be Homosexualy Married...

Today in all the wards in California, a letter from the First Presidency was read over the pulpit in which the members were instructed how to vote on the topic of legalized homosexual marriage. The letter seemed to state that we should support a particular group with our time and money. Some members have expressed that they feel like their faithfulness, worthiness and temple recommends were on the line if they did not endeavor to follow the directive expressed in the letter and later by their local leaders. A Friend of mine has specifically been told by personal witness that he should take action contrary to that expressed in the letter. This created great shock to him as he has never been placed in this circumstance before. I looked on the internet and found the following article from an active "faithful" heterosexual Mormon supporting homosexual rights to marriage. I do not want to take this discussion into whether or not he should follow his personal revelation or that of the First Presidency as that discussion is found in the mature section.

I do want to know your thoughts on the idea of voting for or against homosexual marriage. I am not interested in knowing that homosexuality is wrong. I am interested in hearing your thoughts on the idea of enforcing our religious beliefs on others by law.

3) Why would you vote that way?
4) Does this cross the line between politics and religion? (Church doesn't get involved with politics idea...)
