Your Perspective: Positive Autism vs Negative Autism

I put this in an Autism based group to see what Autistics will say and wanted to share it here as well. I was reading the the take on positive/negative autism here: AStrangerInGodzone: Autism-Negative or Autism-Positive - Which Are You?, I like to read and learn this kind of thing… and while I agree with the most of it I do question why an Autism Parent doesn't have the right to be stressed. Yes, it categorizes positive as learning to deal with stress but it doesn't mean it is not high and more especially because each person's situation is different and the tools they may have are different. For example… if you had to cut a large tree and all you had to do it was a plastic knife it is likely you will become very frustrated because you have a task to complete but you can't. This is not about the tree or the knife but the situation. I am interested to learn more. There seems to be this assumption that if you, as a Parent of children who are autistic, mention stress then it means you are blaming them. Well, that is exactly what that is… an assumption. I get that the Autistic community gets a lot of stigma and negativity and so certain emotions erupts quickly, however this is not my intention, and in this environment it is controlled to weed out emotion to get to constructive discussion be it disagreeable or otherwise. Thanks.
