There are no real safeguards. That is why we need to use a machine to count the votes after using simple pencil and paper or a pen and paper. Recycle the paper after the voting after it has all been verified. You can go on line and do a search on wireless voting machines and find how easy they are to circumvent. That is where I saw it back in 2012. I doubt that the security has gotten any better on the voting machines.

There will always be a war between cyber security and cyber hackers. As one makes a new break through the other will find a way around it. I do not see this stopping any time soon as security gets more complex.

There are safeguards, I've seen them demonstrated at techfairs. Not only can they stop an intrusion they can identify it and give a very accurate position of where the attack is coming from. And this is all available to anyone. I have to guess the stuff the Government has access to is even better. They are expensive though. That said, why wouldn't we want to spend the money to protect our voting?

We can not even get Congress to spend money on anything but themselves. I am sure that trying them to spend money on voting security so the people who are voting more than once or not eligible to vote can not anymore will be on the top of their plans.

Sadly this is so true. It makes me feel sad for the fate of our country KN when I think about where we are and where we once were. Such a waste.

While this can happen I do not see society making itself ready if it does. The over dependence on everything to be done electronically is putting us all in jeopardy.
