We tend to buy them hot and roasted fresh from the market these days. You get about 6 for £1 ($1.50), my husband absolutely loves them.

We only ever once tried to roast them ourselves at home, in our oven, and they exploded the oven door open,and flew all over the place breaking my pots! Needless to say, we haven't tried that one since!

My mother liked to do this, but I was never interested in it - seemed like to much work for something my taste buds did not care for anyway.
