Is it that you were not sure why you joined, or did you not know how to proceed after your intro message? Did you read all the requirements and constructive post threads to get help?

I knew why I joined, but not exactly how to post replies, and where to. There wasn't exactly an intro thread you needed to post, and the explanations were only on the RPG part, but still, by the naming of boards, and the icons of add reply and new topic, (and also by a few mistakes), I learned.

So the problem was that you did not know how to navigate the board? Did the FAQ help you in this? Do you recommend ways for improvement? I am thinking of making a 'Wizard' just like the Medieval Wizard to help people get around... what do you think?

It could be helpfull, I guess. There wasn't any FAQ there ,it was expected that you already know how to navigate the board. Yes, it won't hurt creating a wizard, but what will you put in there? I can't think of much that wasn't covered in the FAQ.

I am planning that the Wizard will run through things that may be unfamiliar to a new user to get them started right away. I have come to learn that there can never be too much help when it comes to a community like this.

Forum Is What

Something else to keep in mind is that not everyone with an internet connection has a solid grasp of their own computer's capabilities. Many folks get a computer just because they think they're supposed to have one, not because there is a true need for it. So there are a lot of folks who really don't know what they're doing on the computer itself, let alone on a message-based discussion forum -- and this particular community is quite large! I think you've done a great job at posting all the FAQs and help topics you can think of. A wizard would help those who are truly lost.

Well, I have created it, 'Phone Home' is the name, but I am unsure if it makes a difference in helping others understand what a forum is and how it is managed, especially this one. One thing I percieve is that even with all these facilities and helps we still have to encourage users to use them - another task I am not sure how to accomplish.
