Police shootings reflect structural racism, study finds. The deaths of Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Sandra Bland, Michael Brown, and other unarmed black victims at the hands of police sparked a national conversation about racism and policing, from the Black Lives Matter movement to kneeling NFL players. But a new study finds states with a greater degree of structural racism, particularly residential segregation, have higher racial disparities in fatal police shootings of unarmed victims. Source 7x.

I am sure there may be something to this but I am not totally sold on it. I think a lot of people need to stop trying to cause more of a issue than fixing the issues. I know there are some bad officers out there but with the electronic devices in use now a days these officers will soon be shown so they should resign. I hope that if people come together and look at everything as a whole then things should get better.

I'm not at all surprised, This has been going on since Jim Crow. Nobody has nothing to say when an officer kills a life. But when a officer get killed it starts a bunch of crap. They always use the "They threatened me!" Line. It's completely wrong killing lives and getting away with it. These officers need to serve some real time.

With todays use of cameras and body cams it makes it hard to just go out and kill a person. Most of the time there is a officer involved shooting they are looked at with a fine toothed comb to make sure the officer was correct in taking that life. I can tell you from personal experience that is not a easy choice to make.

Well rather than the uniform itself, it's more about what being in that uniform represents. I'm ex military myself and when you are in uniform you are no longer supposed to be considered a person, you are a unit of the government. A weapon of the government.

Hmm, if you really think about it humans as a species have never stopped being violent. It's practically in our genes to destroy what we don't wish to coexist with. In our safe havens we like to teach these higher ethics and moral standards in academia and such but when you look at our approach to dealing with other countries outside of ourselves we kill without restriction and any civilian casualties are considered collateral damage.

If you asked me I'd say many humans in this world secretly want to do violet things but they hold themselves back due to what we all call laws of the land. However once you give them a uniform and an authority that makes them feel that their actions are powered by something bigger than themselves… it is at that point you get to see the true face of humanity. We really haven't changed much from the age of vikings and emperors, it's just that we've become a bit more intelligent about how to spoon feed the information to our citizens.

I believe officers with these type of offenses deserve public execution mandatory by firing squad. Cost way less than Lethal injection & just as humane.

Well I think so, as they are a form of unit to enforce, and so the way to enforce are through violence, and so the people that joining have the believe that criminal deserve violent retribution, while only using speech most of the time are unheeded and the criminal won't repent, while theres a real risk for their own life if they don't act quick, making them develop a paranoia in a long run, while the backing of their comrade, and the justification in the name of "Peace" for the nation itself, push their ego and moral justice to paint themselves justified for such action, and so such daily activity become part of their routine and normalize it to them compare to civilian point of view.

Regarding racial discrimination by the enforcer or law, well, I have first hand experience to it, but to me that just show the hard true color of the nation or society as a whole, as the police are developed by the society or nation itself.
