Tobago Noise Pollution - Fight noise pollution in T&T - Trinis are some of the noisiest people on the planet from the way they talk on the streets, blowing their horn, playing their music so loud that the speakers need repairs and so on. There is no respect for peace.

Title: Loud 'Music'

Comments: I am tired, just sick & tired of calling the Point Fortin & Cap de Ville Police stations about the man across the road playing loud, obscene, violent & vulgar 'music' but no one ever comes!A Constable Victor today asked me over the phone if I made a report to the EMA, I replied by telling yes I did, but they are doing nothing, you all are doing nothing; What do you all expect me to do? I am exhausted & tired of trying to get something done about this! There are sick old people in the houses around, including mines! The police tell me to bring him up in court, I had to ask them if they gonna provide 24/7 protection for myself & family if I do that & they could not answer! The police service is a complete waste!

Comments: I can only sympathize with you. I live on a street with mostly older, sickly folks. Folks who have given their everything to the community. Amongst the homes, there are a few young families. One has a teenager with a motor bike. He races around the block every evening with his bike making the loudest possible sounds. It disturbs the dogs and the peaceful evening atmosphere. Then there is an amateur mechanic who fixes cars on the road side The cars race their engines at all times of the day.
Some of the elderly suffer from dementia. One has a stroke. Two others have heart issues and one family has a member with terminal cancer.
There is no peaceful moments anymore.
We are now just an emptied vessel society- making only noise.

Comments: Noise pollution has its effect when you grow older and start suffering from diseases such as tinnitus or other ear problems. It is pointless telling young people about these diseases and how excessive continuous noise is usually the cause of all of these annoying psychical problems .Elsewhere in the world most authorities are trying their best to stop citizens from making excess noise that in the end cost the state health service millions of dollars.
Here however, the like the writer says, we are just an empty vessel society making a lot of noise. It is no wonder that most of our politicians have already gone deaf.,and perhaps even blind as the impression given is that they don't seem to observe what ordinary people write or say here.

Comments: Lawlessness in simple form. The police of Trinidad seem to be sleeping especially those in Arima. Noise in the form of loud music is written in the laws of the land. Tell me why can't this be in forced by the law in enforcement officers. They come and talk, then as they turn it back louder than before. What do you do if there is no consequence to their action. It just goes on.

Comments: Trinidadians accept noise pollution as part of their culture. Their neigbours can play loud music until 3am and everybody is happy, if someone is against it, they are frowned upon. The Police makes it into a joke and will not respond or do anything meanfull, saying its just music and we culture. People play sports and football in the streets anytime, as late as 10 or 12pm and don't value the others who live close by and it is accepted. In central Trinidad, there is a place where this happens all the time and the neighbours are to scared or don't want to get involved. The Couva police refuses to assist after at least 20 calls and complaints. Such a sorry state of affairs for a country who boasts one of the highest literary rates in the world. Maybe you all need to rethink that boast.

Trinidad Noise Pollution - Loud Music

Most Trinis don't know how loud they can be. When they speak, play music or do some activity its done to the max level with no consideration for others around them who may not want to hear them.

Noisy cars passing through residential areas should be given hefty fees. I am pretty sure that they have passed by plain clothes police many times. They should be stopped and ticketed.
