Laventille, Belmont, Gonzales , East Dry River, John-John, Sea lots, Beetham Estate Garden, Caledonia, Maryland, Mon Repos, Chinapoo and Morvant are cities that are very poor and where most crimes in Trinidad occurs, it is also close to Port of Spain, the capital which makes it look bad and brings crimes into the international city. The government of Trinidad and Tobago needs to remove those cities from the area. The United States immigration warns people of these areas, also it mentions of its gangs and drug problems, that is to tell you how serious it is, it scares aways tourists and harms our ecomony. The government should destroy all of the housing and develop the area into a secure residential area, poor elderly people living in these slums should be put into government appartments.

Depanman, let me guess, you are living abroad right? Trinis abroad always seem to come with these highfalutin ideas that forget one main reason the country is the way it is: CULTURE. Change the culture and everything else changes.
According to a TV6 report the poverty line is rising in Trinidad & Tobago which is also a contributor of crime. It is not surprising when you consider the prices of food and the lack of housing. I believe it is as much as 20% now.
The poverty rate can only go up from here this government has made sure of that. All you hear on the news is them looking for ways to tax people while taking away any benefits they had before like fuel subsidies and vat on certain foods.
