Title: More lawless behavior
Comments: There we go again more lawlessness without any retribution and denials by some officials that it never really was as reported. I am referring to the semi -clad women displaying themselves at the Arouca prison, thus creating more work for the police and the security authorities. I suppose it would have been more entertaining with a bit of pole dancing. Whatever next?.This is another sign of the degrading of our nation and another foot into the abyss.

Title: Lack of toilets in prisons
Comments: It is hard to believe in one of the richest nations in the Caribbean in the year 2017 prisoners of this nation are still using buckets as toilets within their cells. Why has this just come to light? Perhaps too there may be some outside latrines provided in some prisons similar to those still in use in many districts here. It just goes to show that despite our politicians supporting the human rights organization, when in comes to dealing in a humane fashion with respect to our citizens our politicians lack of compassion, caring and observing human rights are thrown out of the window by those who govern this nation. Now in a time of recession and a government struggling to keep their heads above water there is a sudden cry to provide a budget of $55 million dollars to provide flushing water toilet within our prisons. Why didn't our politicians think of this decades ago? . I expect it was again lack of foresight by those supposedly clever local politicians eh. This sort of thing make individuals like me wonder why we keep electing political representatives since our independence who are not really interested in improving the fabric of our nation, but use the Treasury funds as an ATM for their party's own financial benefit in a Mafia style fashion.

Title: Closing Port of Spain Prison
Comments: The suggestion of getting the rid of the prison in Port of Spain is a very good suggestion. In this modern times prisoners need to be accommodated as far as possible from build up areas such as Port of Spain. Not only that, the area taken up by the prison is considered prime land and could be sold off and the profit put to a useful purpose .The prison as it stand could be converted in accommodation for the homeless or as I have already said, sold off. Some of the proceeds could be directed towards the Salvation Army to improve their accommodation for the homeless. This is something that our politicians should seriously consider.

Title: Guns for all
Comments: The plea from the commissioner of prisons William Alexander to the ACOP to allow off-duty prison offers to carry firearms seems a reasonable request, however, I am afraid that his request may just be treated as a voice in the wilderness. In my opinion, as things are in T&T things they can only improve if everyone had access to firearms. With the introduction of such a scheme there will be an initial period of reckless killings but sooner than latter citizens here will learn to respect each other fearing that they may end on a slap at the mortuary if they step over the line. The only other alternative is to appoint an outside experience policeman to act as commissioner of police. He, however, must be accompanied by a team of foreign policemen and given full control of the management of our police system and our local police. As I have said before it is pointless appointing any local police to the post of commissioner. There just won't be any improvement in our crime rate. We just don't breed men with the criteria and patriotism required for such an important position in this nation.

Title: PRISON OFFICER'S WOES
Comments: The following request from the National Minister of security is surely going to be ignored by prison officers in the light of another recent murder of a prison officer. The problem here is that killing of citizens has become a hobby for many of our hardened criminals and there is nothing that could be done about it unless the police get out of the car and start foot patrol and start enforcing law and order in a pragmatic and effective manner. Statement by Mr. Dillon The Ministry of National Security is calling on members of the Prison Service to let good sense prevail and reject any attempt by anyone who may try to convince them to embark on protest action by staying away from work in light of the recent murders of two of their colleagues.

Title: Prison officers plight
Comments: There is no doubt whatsoever that this nation is in a crisis where crime is concerned. This is now clearly evident when criminals are forcing the government to take precautions to protect the lives of prison officers. The criminals are clearly ruling the roost and the more hardened criminals entering the prisons the situation is likely to become extremely worse. The answer to this problem is to restore the death penalty and start hanging those on death row now.The government should demonstrate to the hardened criminals here that killing other citizens will be dealt in a severe manner by using the hangman and stop confining killers to imprisonment for life. Most of these killers are quite contented to spend most of their lives in prison and our prisons are now jammed packed with serious and hardened criminals who are now treading on the toes of the prison officials and its authority, and are now as respite and vengeance on our society and its security targeting prison officers outside the boundaries of our prisons.
