Which medium (oil, watercolor, pencil, pastel, charcoal, etc.) do you like the most for your art? I personally love to work with watercolors simply because they are very easy to handle. However, for effect oil on black velvet is a delight.

While I don't do it much anymore, I used to create pictures all the time until I had kids. My favorite medium is chalk. You can easily blend chalk and fade the dividing lines between colors. Things like feathers and sunsets come out so well because the line between colors can be faded so much easier than other mediums. With the holding sprays today, chalk artwork can last along time on the right paper, but obviously, chalk can be used any where and on many surfaces. The other good thing about chalk is that you can make temporary art work any where from you paper pad, to the drive way out side if you chose. You can always just wash it off. I find that the benefit of chalk is discovered most when using many bright colors in which you can "blur" your colors easily.

Oil pastels are nice - I like looking at well-done art using them, and if I ever get around to taking up art, I will buy some. They blend well, come in a variety of colors, and are vibrant.

I love oil painting, and drawing with Nupastels. But I have really not had any experience with watercolor. Sadly, I will soon graduate with a degree in art having never tried a number of medias.

I'm not much of an artist but when I do something I simply like the pencil. Unlike other mediums you can always easily erase and start over again. wink.gif

I messed around with acrylics for years until oil seduced me.But like any mistress, it's demanding and often more trouble than it's worth.

I wouldn't call myself an artist but my favorite medium is model wood. I can cut it and glue it together to create buildings, people and other things to visual life.

Rather off topic, but...

Wood as a medium is really interesting! I've never done it, but it sounds like fun.

I typically us charcoal or color pencils, but that's typically because it's what I have access to. I'd still use them regardless. I'd love to try oil pastels. I hope that isn't a big mistake considering my least favorite medium to date was chalk pastels. It got absolutely everywhere and smeared a bit too easily for my liking. Then again, I was trying to draw people. People are not my best art subjects.
