Wolf's Bait - Page 11

The Game Master says...

You recross the bridge in a safe manner not looking to rush after Wanderer.

You get to the other side and cautiously move up the path North and you are now located back in the rest area where you tried to recoup before.

You hear nothing and see nothing but the darkness around you with some parts of the cave revealing itself via your light source.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

You move forward North to the place of the big oak door. It is in the same way you left it and nothing can be heard or seen.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

Thomas goes up to the heavy door and tugs at it. The door hardly budges with his effort. You then decide to go to the supply area of the Bandit's cave and gather any oil and spikes you see but neither of those are available.

At this point Wanderer rejoins you. She says,

"The sun sets..."

She is cleaning her bloody sword with what seems to be thorn black cloth. She claims to have chased the remaining Bandits out of the cave as she grew tired of their cowardly assaults.

"We risk death and stay in this den of thieves for the night?"

You ponder the situation and what you have encountered thus far. With silence now heard your wounds hurt more and you feel both hungry and thirsty.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

You rest yourself and eat heartily.

You mention your plan about burning the door down to which Wanderer nods in approval but she expresses her concern about being trapped in the cave at night. She has no oil but points towards areas in the cave where many things can be used as fuel, however she notes that in doing so the smoke will be intoxicating and there are no ready vents.

Bait Wolfs

The Game Master says...

You head over to the first heavy door you encountered. You take up a spike and start to hit at the door, but the door is not easy to penetrate. The wood seems hardened and treated. You immediately think to yourself that you will expend a lot of energy getting the spikes in.

From behind the door you hear a rough loud voice...

"Be off with the lot of thee stay here and I will surely bring death upon thee..."

You then hear a loud war cry that actually makes you jump slightly away from the door and then silence.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

Wolf's Bait

The Game Master says...

The door is definitely a challenge you think, it will not be easily opened. Deciding it best to be outside of this wretched cave in order to make a safe camp you casually leave in the direction you came, but taking no extra precautionary measures in your exit leads to your party's demise as one of the hidden springs of a dirty trip chord trap, left by escaping Bandits, activates a hidden collection of older blades, rocks and debris from above the cave exit from the mountain doing damage sufficient to finish Daphne's life. Wanderer jumps aside in time and Thomas take 1HP in damage. You find yourself discouraged by this but at the same time you start to feel very unsafe. Despite your great success your numbers are few and Death's Mouth is large enough to swallow the weary. You are on foot, it will take you into the night to clear the pass just outside of Death's Mouth. It will possibly take you into the early morning of the next day before you see forests.

GM: Daphne is dead. Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

Wanderer listens to your suggestion of returning to the village agreeing that both of you will need to leave any extra weight behind so you can basically jog your way out of Death's Mouth before nightfall as walking will be much too slow. You watch as she leaves extra items she took from inside the cave. She now carries her quiver of arrows, bow and her two swords. She then looks at you and says sarcastically,

"Well, what are ye waiting for an invitation from the king?"

She then starts off jogging towards the North while holding her weapons in check so they do not sway from side to side. You are amazed at how quickly she is moving.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

Wolf's Bait World Medieval PBP RPG - Page 11

The Game Master says...

You start laying down your equipment as and as you arise you are amazed to see that Wanderer is almost a spec in the distance. She is not waiting for you. What a comrade you think as you quickly adjust for the run. Your chain mail and shield alone become such a burden. You are still carrying a lot of stuff and despite great constitution you are just not able to keep up with Wanderer and she disappears North while you pant and become exhausted. You stop... Your soul is not such for such an accomplishment.

Before you can leave the pass of Death's Mouth you are fearful having now seen the sun setting in the West and a sore sight ahead - a couple of mounted Bandits are casually coming down the pass heading South. As they see you they immediately charge.

GM: Battle starts. Remember to adjust your equipment.

Charging horses gets a bonus as they get ready to swing but you can barely react. Nevertheless the warrior in you does not give up and you attack with your might slaying both. Ow you see your blessings... A light horse from one of the Bandits is not far off and you are able to take it. The other has gone too far into the South for you to bother. As you mount the horse and head out you realize how exhausted the run has made you.

You finally reach the village.

GM: This ends this Scenario. I will be creating new Threads for the next scenario. This time you can hopefully both come with the numbers and the right skills to finish the task as the party was pretty much wiped out. In the new Threads I will also let you know what experience you have and what you earned.
