Bad Cops In Trinidad & Tobago

According to TV6 News two cops in full uniform and with a squad car showed up to a residence of some Chinese nationals where they allegedly robbed them of cash and mobile phones. The TTPS is asking them to surrender. On the other hand it is good that the police can weed out these bad cops which tarnish the reputation of the police in Trinidad & Tobago.

Expected! Thanks to cameras, GPS and victims that aren't afraid to say they were robbed by police we can get more of the bad police out of the service.

Comments: Bad cops in Trinidad are nothing new .They have been around in a big way for many years. In February 1997 I advertised my Nissan car for sale by placing an advert in the Guardian newspaper. I had urgent personal reasons to sell it. I had to seek special permission from the Minister of Trade and the head of the transport department Mr Prescott as the vehicle was not registered Trinidad for three years in Trinidad as is required by law. Permission was granted. I managed to sell the very quickly. One day after the sale two alleged uniformed policemen arrived at my home one carrying a paper pad and holding a pen in his other hand as though he was ready to to take some details. They had parked a vehicle outside my home bearing the icon of the Trinidad transport department. They demanded to see the car. I told them that I had sold it. They then left in a polite manner. I immediately rang Mr Prescott after they left and asked him why his men wanted to see the vehicle.( I had thought that the police men were associated with his Department).Mr Pescott told me to call the police and report the incident. He confirmed that none of his men or vechicles were absent from the compound and at that very moment a meeting was being held and all his men were present. He advised me to call the buyer and inform her of the incident and to tell her not to let any uniformed police onto her premises. He also told me that I was very luck as to not having the vehicle as I may have been killed and the vehicle taken.

Bad cops and not bright cops either. What about the higher ranking cops? I saw an inspector the other day charged with a crime is good that they not afraid to jail their own.
