Does it really suck? A few reasons for explaining why it rocks. Is hard, darn hard, to survive: is like playing at hardcore level! Cool! You have to be smart and creative: swinging a sword is repetitive and boring. Nobody else does it: would you buy the same shirt as everybody else even if the shop offers other choices? But mainly and most of all because Fantasy IS magic! Without magic, why creating an alternative reality? We could just play in Stuttgart, Germany, in the year 1192 AD.
Don't let them bring you down, you can still become like our local Merlin even though since I've been playing here I haven't seen a magician even survive an entire scenario - that sucks.
Thank you, Fair, I really appreciate your support. Seriously. You also suggested me another reason: nobody did it before. I will be (hopefully) like Capt Kirk of the old Enterprise: "To be where nobody has ever been before...." (not the exact words, but was something like this, right?).
Go for it! If we can have a magician that can cast a few spells that will help us out plenty. So far we've been hanging around the Village most of our time, who knows what's 'out there' that might get us killed if we don't have a powerful magician on our side.
From all that memorization of spells they tend to forget stuff putting your character in a difficult situation.
