PSC orders Philbert to give crime plan
One day after the killing of Camille Daniel at the West End Police Station, the Police Service Commission met in an emergency session and mandated the Acting Commissioner of Police to present to it a report detailing how he plans to arrest the deteriorating crime situation. Ref. Source 5
'Full support for Philbert'
National Security Minister Martin Joseph has expressed his full confidence in acting Police Commissioner James Philbert despite the fact that there have been close to 300 homicides within the first seven months of this year alone. Ref. Source 9
I would like to see a more realistic commissioner of police, someone who can truly know what is happening inside the police service, someone who will make the necessary changes for the police to work more effectively. They could start by changing their uniforms. My goodness we're in 2010 and they have police women wearing skirts and hats?
The Attorney General was hitting the Police Commissioner very hard for his lack of involvement in securing the church site being looted. Indirectly Jack Warner was saying it as an insult to not have the police out at 4am when he was on the PBR checking for the opening of the new traffic way for motorists. Philbert does not seemed to be very liked at the moment.
In a follow up to this the TV6 News said that Philbert responded to the AG's accusations about the church not being secured. It seems the police could not figure out who actually owned the land so therefore could not build up a case. There are two things about this I cannot understand:
1. Will you allow people to loot from property just because you do not know who the owner is at the period of time of the crime?
2. Why the property owners did not put security guards there in the first place.
