Trinidad Guardian Newspaper
What are your thoughts about the Trinidad Guardian Newspaper and the recent fiasco of journalists staging a walkout claiming political and managerial interference?

The Guardian has lost a lot of respect and credibility. Kudos to the journalists who did the right thing by resigning. When a newspaper actually takes on what government officials say with regards to sensitive topics, you know you're in trouble and no longer can function as an independent journalist. The situation in the Guardian became unsustainable.
Judy Raymond as an editor in chief should have resigned and it is very unfortunate that she is observing the other journalists leaving and resigning while she chooses to remain in the job despite the political pressure.
What I am going to quote now is the most RIDICULOUS thing I have ever read. The Media Association of Trinidad and Tobago have lost ALL respect for their lack of professionalism and competence. The public DESERVES an apology! Shame! But there is MORE to this story which I think is quite possible that they made an agreement with the Government. What? Do you guys believe in independent journalism? Yeah, right. Corruption in ALL levels, including the Media. Fantastic. From their Facebook page:
Suzanne at MATT is saying that the whole thing was a massive misunderstanding because of the timing of how the Guardian underwent policy changes just as the issue with Moonlial's Range Rover came up. You see ANSA McAL Ltd. Owns the Guardian and is a distributor locally for Range Rovers.
