Police said around 3 p.m., James, a "PH" taxi driver from Acbarali Trace, Malabar, was driving his white Nissan B-13 south along a road close to Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar when two men opened fire on him.

James, police said, was shot to the side of the head but continued driving in an attempt to escape his attackers.

He lost control of the car, crashed into and broke through the chain-link fence surrounding part of the stadium before coming to a stop inside. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
