Feathertail Introduction - Page 2

I was trying to relate my frustration with your forum's rules to the frustration an autistic person feels, when trying to learn and navigate an unfamiliar (and seemingly arbitrary) set of societal rules. I don't mean to suggest that there aren't good reasons for all of them.

Every rule leaves someone out, though, and I do mean to suggest that the rules of society at large right now are designed (unintentionally) to leave autistics out. I also tend to edit my posts right after posting them, and I'm sorry for the confusion.

Believe me your frustration with our Rules is not unique to your autistic traits, most everyone that joins here tends to do so without first reading what is required and get a rude awakening to the realization that they are not in a run of the mill Community as thy start to participate.

Yes, I understand what you meant and said and what I was trying to illustrate is that society at large will unlikely cater for anything that is not part of the majority. It is not limited to being autistic... Does society fairly cater for people who are Black, who are poor, who are abused or who are handicapped? The idea is everyone has to fit in if they want to survive regardless to if you have Autism or not.

I look forward to your positive participation. Thanks.

"Fitting in" isn't a choice that you make, it's something the people around you allow you to do. And the point of discussing disability rights (or racism, or classism, or societal acceptance of abuse) is to help people see how and where people are being left out, and to discuss ways to make it so that they do fit in and thus "want to survive." Society at large may be "unlikely" to cater to those people's needs right now, but the more people are aware of what others are going through the less likely they are to ignore others' needs, themselves or as a society. That's why I talk about what I'm going through.

I am sorry that using your board's rules as an example offended you, and I will try to only contribute in ways that you feel are positive from now on. Please continue to let me know when I am behaving inappropriately.

Hence I am trying to say that you should not limit yourself to one or two Threads because you will most likely be able to expand in other areas than the LDS Board, since you no longer share that belief system.

What I am saying is... If you want to fit in you cannot expect to do something different and fit in, hence there are polices, rules, etc. I am already all for accepting you here, I invited you because you are a brilliant writer and can express yourself well - I am just trying to channel it to the right part of the Community, nothing personal.

Please stop saying "sorry". I do not recall stating I was offended nor does it offend me. You mentioned the word offense in your post but you really got to read our Constructive Posting Policy because it address all those things. I am merely making you aware and channeling your input so it fits in the right place. I tried to direct you early o'clock to the Psychology Board where we Discuss more on Autism in various aspects. Seeing that you were not LDS and did not favor those beliefs it did not make sense for you to keep giving input there, understand? The way we do things here is by indexing based on likeness. For instance if you are Catholic and Autistic then I would channel you to the "Studies of Catholicism Board". In that Board nothing about LDS or or other Religions can be mentioned and vice versa.

I hope you understand.
