Hello, I am a retired high school science teacher of 30 years. I have been married for 44 years, have two daughters and four grand children. I live west of Denver, Colorado and I'm a native of the state.
My mother was raised on a farm in NW So. Carolina and my father in a company mining town, Berwind, in the Southern Colorado coal fields. My paternal grandfather, an Italian immigrant, was among the striking miners in the Coalfield Wars of 1913-14. (the one that included the Ludlow massacre)
Politically I identify with liberal progressive goals which would include: the right of a woman to choose how she treats her own body, full equality, including marriage, for Gay and Lesbian citizens, universal health care, serious financial reform, increased emphasis and financial assistance for education at all levels to name a few.
I have been an Atheist for as long as I can remember, in fact, I don't remember a time when I did believe in a god. I do, however, find the study of religions to be fascinating, albeit a bit disturbing from time to time.
I am a wood carver (thus the screen name). It's my addiction and preferred method of escape from the general perversity of the universe.
