I am a senior that has always been interested in Bible prophecy. I believe that the prophecies of Daniel and the minor prophets are turning to history before our eyes.
I am hoping to make connections with others interested in Bible/Christian studies, especially others who share my model of Salvation History.
Daniel is a good book. I especially like the statue that represents different parts of historical society. Babylon is the last one where the foot of the statue is mixed with iron and clay. Iron and clay don't mix and the statue inevitably falls when hit with the ball of truth. We are that babylonian society. It is a good metaphor. I haven't studied daniel for a while, so this might be fun.
I also have been fascinated by the statue of Daniel 2. And, having worked in construction for several years, I 'see' the description 'his feet part of iron and part of clay' a little differently. I've worked with 'miry clay' and 'iron' a lot; only, today we call it reinforced concrete. My understanding of the different textures of the statue, are that they represent different times in the earth's history. The gold was the time that Babylon ruled and had its relationship with God's chosen people, Israel. Then the bronze was the next kingdom that ruled that area of the Earth.... Each in its turn until you get down to the feet, which, if the statue represents the time from Nebuchadnezzer to the 'end of time' then the feet would be pretty close to the end of time. The preferred building material of our time is reinforced concrete and I think we are in the time of the feet of the statue.
Since the Old Testament is mostly centered around the history of Israel and the other 'kingdoms' represented by the other metals were involved in the area of the Middle East crescent; I am looking for another 'kingdom' to come to power in the Middle East in our time that will claim dominion in the Middle East and will be made up of 10 ethnicities of that area and will at least make war with Israel and try to control that whole Middle East crescent area.
