My answer yes! The proof comes from the ones who control most phases of the world wide web, games and what not are usually teens or pretty close. I was never gifted or even liked school but in front of a computer I was a commander. Most people just do not take the time to use computers specially adults but teens have all the time in the world to perfect their skills no matter their brain power.
If you haven't been brought up in the tech age it may be difficult to get used to a computer. You probably have to be naturally inquisitive as well and willing to learn. Some older folks give up to fast.
I was reading a blog post yesterday mentioning the opposite, that the general notion that young people are good at computers is untrue. I do not have the link on my tablet, but if someone asks, I can put it up. The examples the author gave were shocking to me. People 20 years and younger couldn't click a wi-fi icon, can't find programs not on their desktop, don't know an ethernet/network cable and the worst couldn't locate the button to turn the monitor on. The point at the end was the lack of education, and the babysitting some fathers do with regards to tech, stunts the development of kids. Also, it summarised how few application modern users use, kids often going on Facebook, youtube and wikipedia only and never using anything else. It also blames Mobile phone OS for their dumbed-down design, making users oblivious to file systems.
One of the problems is the speed with which technology advances. For me younger people always want the latest model whereas older people usually are happy with something a decade old. Older people tend to think, if it works why change it. Some of them who rather read a book will never grasp an E-book for that same reason.
Anyone who took computer classes in high school back in the 80s should find modern day computing a breeze. The commodore64 was a wild beast to tame if you didn't know basic programming. And you had to result to a manual the size of a phone book to learn how top even launch a game from the external floppy drive. So some of the "Adults" Should be better equipped than their children if they kept their skills.
