WYOMING - Statues commemorating the heroic efforts of four men at the Sweetwater River crossing were unveiled recently at a sesquicentennial celebration of what many call the "Sweetwater rescue." Commissioned by the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the three statues depict four men--George W. Grant, C. A. Huntington, David P. Kimball, and Stephen W. Taylor--crossing the ice-filled river carrying exhausted travelers.
