Since browser versions can be different and this one certainly is I decided to give you an update - this version is ACE! It handles memory EXTREMELY well (they must have received my Email). If you are looking for an integrated browser with loads of features, built in Email and pop-up blocker then Netscape 7.2 is for you.
Thanks for the review, JB. I used Netscape extensively in the past and preferred it over IE. However, since our company decided to move away from Netscape, I havent kept up to date on the versions. I have been thinking about going back and supporting it on my own, and it is good to know that 7.2 will be a good place to start.
I believe you will like it, but give it an install and let me know - nothing to loose really. I have always appreciated Netscape because I feel I am in control of what I do on the net and not the browser decide for me as in IE .
One thing I already dont like about Netscape is the inability to use the Yahoo! Toolbar where I store all my bookmarks and check up on all my Sports and News sites. I'm still willing to give it a try though!
There might be a patch for it, but it comes with something similar for ICQ and AOL. Hey the thing is way better than IE, it has built in mail, chat, versitile, slick modern look and a command over the net that IE wished they had, you can't expect them to throw in Yahoo too.
Just installed Netscape 7.2 on my WinME machine, and while this site loads much faster than in IE, I get a lot of broken image links, which I absolutely hate. Also, I chose the Full install and I think I got way more than I bargained for. Other than that, it feels good to be back on Netscape and I will be exploring the new features, like the pop-up blocker, which is a plus. Now if I could only get my Yahoo! toolbar
Broken images? It works fine for me. Check settings or connection.
Another feature you will love is the Email. It can sort each Email that enters the inbox as spam or genuine and only notify you of legit Emails as you 'teach' it what to look for by labeling unwanted Emails as 'Junk'.
Offtopic but, That broken images thing was me working on a script - sorry - should be fixed now. |
I just had to stop using this Browser (unfortunately) today. It seems that there has been a bug suddenly plaguing everyone that uses it or version 8. What happens is this... when you initiate the browser it starts to run all the computer resources almost to a stop and then Netscape itself stops responding. At first I thought I was low on memory so I restarted, did a defrag and lo and behold same problem. I then searched the net with people complaining about the same thing! Now this only started today. Anyone else caught wind about this?
