A $9.7 billion aid commitment for Hurricane Sandy flood relief has been approved by the House, boosting prospects for help for the many home and business owners devastated by the storm. The Senate is expected to follow later Friday and send it to President Obama. A larger aid package will get a vote in mid-January. Ref. USAToday
