Argo

In 1979, the American embassy in Iran was invaded by Iranian revolutionaries and several Americans are taken hostage. However, six manage to escape to the official residence of the Canadian Ambassador and the CIA is eventually ordered to get them out of the country. With few options, exfiltration expert Tony Mendez devises a daring plan: to create a phony Canadian film project looking to shoot in Iran and smuggle the Americans out as its production crew. With the help of some trusted Hollywood contacts, Mendez creates the ruse and proceeds to Iran as its associate producer. However, time is running out with the Iranian security forces closing in on the truth while both his charges and the White House have grave doubts about the operation themselves.

How in the world the Academy failed to nominate Ben Affleck as best director for this movie? It is insane! He got robbed! However he won an award for Best Director at the Critics' Choice awards as well as Best Picture.

I just watched this film and I thought it was excellent. I'm very impressed by Affleck's work as director and extremely surprised he wasn't nominated for an Oscar for his work directing this film.

Every little thing seen on the film has been carefully studied and executed and Affleck had the ability to have you glued to the screen until the very last second. The music for this film also was great.

You don't have to know much about history because the way the movie was done, they give you a little bit of it at the beginning of the film and throughout.

Update: Ben Affleck has won a Golden Globe as a director for Argo beating Steven Spielberg and Quarantino and also won Best Picture Drama.

Argo had my heart pumping. I felt I was one of the Americans stuck by the Canadian ambassador's home. You only get to feel this way when the acting is great. The best was the airport scene, I almost pooed my pants waiting to see if they could get on the plane.
