Alert!

In an effort to keep uninterested parties to a minimum we have yet anoter irritant. Now when you try to view topics, but have not posted in 15 days or more you get a message in a pop-up box like this:

WELCOME BACK STRANGER! We have not seen you post anything and you are becoming a PEEPER! Remember only posting messages counts towards activity. You may want to share your thoughts with us so that we know you are alive and healthy, when you do this message will stop displaying. If you are just tired of the Forum simply delete your account via your control panel - no hard feelings at all.

Guiding the Newbie

We have found that newbies need all the guidance they can get, so we have implemented alert pop-up messages to guide them. From now on when a new member is about to make an intro message they are alerted as to what an introduction is and that if they just post nonsense they will be deleted.

When the newbie posts the intro they are then alerted with a 'good job' statement along with ushering them to update their profile and check out the site map. They are also encouraged to keep on posting constructively.

As mentioned before... users that have not posted in over two weeks also get an alert message saying their activity rating is falling and it encourages them to post constructively.

Hopefully these little additions will help new members get integrated and not just post an intro and stop. We also hope it will help peepers decide to post or delete their account as we do not cater for peepers.

September Newsletter

Hi There!

How are you? From our last newsletter you
learnt of our enforcement of activity. In
case you missed that, let us go over it
once more, just for you wink.gif

We recently made lots of changes to the
forum. This includes cleaning up all the
extra items that caused it to look very
cluttered. We also deleted all the members
that joined but did not post anything or
very little. Upon registration members are
shown the rules which states that they must
keep their account active to remain as a
member. Activity refers to actual posting
participation and not simply visiting.

Now when a user has not posted in over two
weeks a small pop-up message lets them know
that their activity rating is dropping.

A question often asked of us is - 'Are you
going to delete my account?' We do not
delete accounts selectively, the script does
it automatically by checking who has not
posted in a long time and then it simply
deletes their account.

1. Increased participation rate multiplier so everyone's activity level should be at least 6% more than before. You have no excuse to keep up your activity rating now.

2. Newbies only make an Intro post in ONE place --> Welcome board. They can then be directed to the appropriate forum based on their reason for joining.

3. The T&T SIngles section was closed and the related posts deleted because those who joined did not get the point of the forum. They will be directed to our web development section if they wish to put up a profile.

4. LDS Singles has merged with the RM & LDS News board.

5. The extra boards that supported the teen section have been deleted and merged with the ONE teen board. We decided to leave the Teen board in the hope that there are mature teens that would like to have their own section.

6. Posts were recounted so you may notice a difference in your current post count.

UPDATE: We now have a lite version of this forum:

about posting as well as a reminder about
our current contest.

ABOUT POSTING

Some newbies do not take the time to read the
FAQ board which contains valuable information
about posting. Here are some key tips that we
thought needed to be emphasized:

1. The LDS Deep Doctrine Board is for LDS
members ONLY, if you are not a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
ans wish to post a religious related topic
then PLEASE go to the Religions & Traditions
Board.

2. Before you start or reply to a message
ALWAYS check to see which board you are on
so that you know if you are posting in the
correct place.

3. Keep on topic. If you are going offtopic
then please use the OFFTOPIC tags.

This can all be had via:
