Comments: It never ceases to amaze me that people think that when they have some knowledge they think that they must be right. The earth being moved to this solar system is probably right. I cannot say for sure, but if it was, how was it was moved? I think it is childish to assume that God must obey the laws of the universe discovered by Einstein. The theory of relativity is but a piece of the puzzle of the nature of the universe. What about virtual photons relating to magnetic field lines. Move one magnetic field line from anything anywhere and it instanouesly affects every other magnetic field line everywhere else in the universe.
But I digress, God works by natural laws, yes, but who defined natural laws. Did Jesus walk on water by having fish swim near the surface of where he placed each step? Possibly, but unlikely. You have forgotten the nature of God. Us, as gods in embryo, have the opporunity to decide whether or not to obey Him. The price of that ability is high as many of us will not make it back to Him. Everything else, as long as God remains God, does not have a choice to obey. God's power is that things will obey him. If He said for that mountain to remove then it would. Even if it were to vanish into nothingness (as it would appear to us) that mountain would obey. Then why can he not move one measly planet from one place to another.
To quickly go back to the red shift statement previosly mentioned, red shift is real, it can be measured, however it doesn't mean what people think it means. The universe is not expanding to an exponential degree only to burst or collaspe and destroy everthing inside it. Just because the world "renowned" scientists and philosophers say it is doesn't mean they are right. Remember, the Earth used to be flat then it was round now it's a pear. Truth doesn't change, only our ability to distinguish truth from the philosophies of men ever changes.

I recently read where scientists are looking for a "God Particle", possibly dark matter, which they believe, even though they can't detect it, accounts for nearly 80% of the mass of the Universe. That leaves a lot of undetectable matter! Planets we have not seen yet, such as Kolob, etc., could account for this mass, which leaves a big hole in their calculations, but leaves us with a bit of a grin, knowing that the Lord has created this Universe and everything in it, and that eventually, it will all fulfill His purposes.
Everyone's theory of how the earth would move through space is very interesting, yet it seems to strain credibility a bit for me. I prefer the theory presented by Robert P. Burton and Bruce F. Webster in (I think) BYU studies. (I have a copy). It is entitled, "Some Thoughts On Higher Dimensional Realms."
In short, they discuss the implications of hyperspace for angelic visitations. They write:
QUOTE |
...hyperdimensional beings would quickly discover that there are no volumes or spaces in our dimension into which they could not come. Every room, every container, wvery vault would be as accessible to them as the 2-D rooms (in an illustration) would be to us. A hyperdimensional being-or rather, a three-dimensional cross section of such a being- could directly enter a room, explore it, and leave again, without having to pass through door or windows which might even be locked. There would be no need for the hyperdimesional being to pass through an opening- it would simply exit our three-dimensional universe. |
QUOTE |
All of these quotations refer to a phenomenon in which people and other physical objects are suddenly removed from this planet to another place. Where did they go? How did they get there? Again the question arises: did this involve a traversal of interstellar space, or were the people and things in question simply moved to an adjacent realm? For the authors of this article, the inconveniences of interstellar travel, even at speeds near the speed of light, make the latter explanation more acceptable. |
QUOTE |
The description of "falling into space" and then leaving to return to the former place suggest a realm "outside" our universe. Once again, this can be understood in the context of a fourth spatial dimension. |

Comments: JoePublic, I largely agree with your comments and would love to read quotes about what Joseph Smith said about astronomy. One thing I disagree with is that the elements have no choice but to obey. They do - or rather did - have a choice.
In the creation story in Abraham Chapter 4 we find this quote in verse 18:
QUOTE |
And the Gods watched those things which they had ordered *until they obeyed* |
I like the theory proposed in the book The Kolob Theorem which states that in the hub or center of each galaxy sits a distinct and separate deity and all of his creations encompass that galaxy. It also states that earth was created near Kolob which is at the center of our Milky Way galaxy and made its journey to its present home here in our solar system. The method used to do this I am not sure of but however it was done it is amazing to think about. However this is just a theory although I do agree with most of it. If you are interested in this subject then you should read The Kolob Theorem by Lynn M. Hilton PhD
Yes lds forever it is a bit far fetched but after all it is just a theory and you have to take some of it lightly. I just thought it was a good read because it was very thought provoking. I didn't agree with some of ideas put forth but all in all it was a pretty interesting read. I would like to read more books on this subject but because there aren't that many so if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to let me know.
