"Don't hit the cat!" yells Tomas. "Something is coming towards us. Get the cart into the trees on the east side and hide. We may have a split second to get out of its sight. Only if it spots us, I'll lead the attack."
Tomas begins pulling the cart off the road as he says this, hoping the others join him. Once in the bushes about 30-50ft he attempts to hide.
Anntreen had the chance of entertaining a long conversation with the children during the morning. They looked happy to share stories from their childhood and to tell her about their parents and their life in the marquis' house. But nothing vital emerged. Maybe she will remember some detail if the situation will call for it. Out of character: I'll update the game as soon as I get FoxRogue's rolls.
While he is moving the cart off the road, a blinding burst of light explodes in Tomas' head forcing him to lean on a tree not to fall to the ground. Images start flowing in his mind at confusing high speed. He sees a pack of wild dogs following a group, his group. They're attracted by a scent: a dead corpse. They slowly encircle the travelers, patiently, unseen, craving for flesh and blood. In a birdfly view, he sees them moving. Rapid zooms reveal their position: one is waiting in front, two are already closing down from the woods on both sides, other three are charging from behind. They are on the prey. Tomas yells a warning saving the party from a surprise assault. Jon spots 3 dogs running towards him from the east (ranged), Anntreen spots 2 jumping out from the woods on her side (melee), the one on the west is approaching, Krusten is flatfooted and misses 1st round. Tomas always moves 1st. Combat begins.
Anntreen with quarterstaff in hand yells to the kids in the cart, "Stay down!" As she beets the approaching beasts off taking a swing at the nearest one with her staff.
Roll for attack: 15
Roll for damage: 6
She will not stray from blocking the beasts way to the cart, even if it means defending the 3 kids with her life.
Krusten becomes very alert and quickly fires off two arrows hoping to get the animal before it can even come close to the caravan.
