What are your thoughts about Adolf Eichmann, a Nazi officer who was said to be one of the major players in executing the Holocaust during World War 2?

Comments: Eichmann was by no means a "key player" in the Third Reich; even the Israeli detective who was hired to track him down had not known who he was initially. His rank in the SS was the equivalent to lieutenant colonel, and he was assigned by his superiors "head of Jewish affairs".
He got caught up in the horrors of all that was going on at the time, but he was a regular person, not a monster, and whatever corruption he underwent was circumstantial.
My sympathies for him are heightened by the fact that the Israelis tracked him down 15 years after all of the wartime atrocities had ended, where he was just living a quiet life in a poor suburb of Buenos Aires, doing his best to make a good life for his family. They hunted him down on the night of his wedding anniversary as he walked home to his wife, knocked the bouquet of flowers out of his hand, knocked him unconscious, drugged him, and illegally snuck him out of Argentina to the only country where there could be no third party/ "voice of reason": (Israel). They then proceeded to make a scapegoat of him, to characterize him as if he were the devil himself, to provide misinformation and false quotes, as well as to create numerous pornographic stories (Stalag fiction) based upon and inspired by his capture. When they killed him, they ignored his request that his ashes be returned to his family, and instead dumped them far out in the Mediterranean Sea, so that "no country would serve as his final resting place."
It disgusts me.
Supposedly, Eichmann never said he was sorry, never begged for mercy, etc, etc. Really?

Either way the Jews would have been glad to get one of those related to the Holocaust from enjoying life after the fact even if he wasn't directly overseeing the death of Jews he was part of it.
