I was on a long road trip last week and for some reason, it occured to me that I've never heard of Adam's baptism. Was he baptized? And if so, who performed the ordinance? Was he maybe baptized in another world? Since he was placed here as an adult, some feel he may have been born on another planet, raised to adulthood, then put here to be the father of all men. Thus, he may have been baptized at 8 years of age on his birth planet. And what about Eve? Did Adam baptize her? Maybe I'm overlooking something simple, but I would appreciate others thoughts on this.
While I don't know who baptized Adam, I would bet Adam baptised Eve. I do not believe a baptism in another world is the answer. Adam and Eve were like little children not knowing even good from Evil when they were first in the garden. Until the Fall there was no need for a baptism. In my opinion, of course.
I guess I should dust the dust off my Pearl of Great Price and read it.
As far as Alma goes, I wonder if maybe he had the Priesthood from his youth. We discussed this possibility in our Gospel Doctrine class this year. The people in his land had the gospel but fell away under King Noah. But, if Alma was already a Priesthood holder, he would have already been baptized and there would have been no need for them both to go under the water.
Hmm... this brings about an interesting point. If anyone doubts the baptism of Joseph Smith (and his friends), these two pieces of scripture would bring sense to it.
Although one thing strikes me odd. The Joseph Smith baptism is mentioned in full detail. The scripture pieces seem more simplistic. Maybe the scriptures are the cliff notes for a bigger book. (I'm kidding, of course).

Comments: You have some amazingly deep questions. As far as Almas' baptism I believe he was a holder of priesthood, and this was a re baptism. Brigham young and many others talk about their re baptisms.
(After the martyrdom of the movement's founder, Joseph Smith, Jr. In 1844, rebaptism became an important ordinance in faction of the church led by Brigham Young. Young led his group to the Great Basin in what is now Utah, and most of his followers were rebaptised not long after entering the basin as a sign that they would re-dedicate their lives to Christ. During the "Mormon Reformation" of 1856-1857, rebaptism became an extremely important ordinance, signifying that the church member confessed their sins and would live a life of a Latter-day Saint. Church members were re-baptized prior to new covenants and ordinances, such as ordination to a new office of the priesthood, receiving temple ordinances, getting married, or entering plural marriage. If Alma or Adam had been Baptized before it is not impossible for it to have happened again in their life time.

Comments: Thanks so much for this topic because I was looking for the answer. Now based on that scripture the spirit baptized Adam? It does not really say who did it.
