Iconoclast

Do you believe society has a need for an iconoclast? (see below). If so, then when does an iconoclast become abusive or commit mutiny?

Iconoclast

I believe a healthy society needs people who are in opposition with the majority. It keeps people aware of issues that they may not readily be aware of, and is a provision for change. However, the definition of an iconoclast seems almost too disruptive as it makes them seem like they will need to use violence to make their point. While I agree there is always at least one iconoclast in each society, I am not sure if there is a need for one so long as there are oppositions who use more peaceful measures and tactics to get their point across.
