My three kids are very cute and when they were babies, we got asked if they could beheld occassionally. We politely decline to allow others we don't know to hold our children, or kisses or hugs of any type. The fact of the matter is that I don't know them, where their hands have been, or what type of person they are. I'm not specifically distrusting, but rather I am protective of what I don't know.
I have a friend of mine in Church who says that everytime she has a baby, people always ask her if they can hold the baby and she usually do not like to be rude, so what her husband and her do now is that when the baby still very small the husband (who is very tall) would hold the baby all the time and guess what? Nobody dares to ask him to hold the baby!
