Equilibrium

Equilibrium is set in the future after a nuclear war where a man called, 'Father' creates a world in which there is no war, but the price is no one must have any emotion. The moves are interesting. They use guns in the same fashion as they would a sword. Although it was okay, it did not tickle me at all.

Equilibrium

Although it has weak points in it (like the unbelievable bit when Preston's susceptibility to emotions begins by imperiling himself over a dog) I thought this film was quite remarkable for being chillingly accurate about certain things such as the recognition that "hate crimes" were a step toward totalitarianism.

Quite a few messages in that movie and with a little tweaking could have been as powerful as the Matrix but with a valuable message to boot!

Sean Bean was excellent - and the poetry wonderful! wink.gif

Just my thoughts.

Equilibrium Sports & Fashion Music Movies

Dubhdara, I think your analysis of the movie is correct. The dress style and function of Cleric seemed to mimic Neo too much and I guess that is why it was a turn-off for me. Had I not seen 'The Matrix' then I guess I would have given this a higher rating. By the way, the dress was almost the same as Neo's Reloaded style too rolleyes.gif.

Equilibrium

In a futuristic world, a strict regime has eliminated war by suppressing emotions: books, art and music are strictly forbidden and feeling is a crime punishable by death. Cleric John Preston (Bale) is a top ranking government agent responsible for destroying those who resist the rules. Whe he misses a dose of Prozium, a mind-altering drug that hinders emotion, Preston, who has been trained to enforce the strict laws of the new regime, suddenly becomes the only person capable of overthrowing it.
