Oxytocin the hug hormone
Is it true that some people have a greater reaction from the Oxytocin hug hormone therefore they are more loveable?
Oxytocin can improve compassion in people with symptoms of PTSD
Oxytocin -- "The love hormone" -- may enhance compassion of people suffering from symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), according to new study. Compassion is pro-social motivation to help others who are in distress. It is an outcome of emotional of empathy -- the ability to recognize the feelings of others, and cognitive empathy -- the ability to understand what another person feels and think. Ref. Source 6k.
Maybe its one of the reasons people like to use drugs because it gives them that happy feeling they want. At the same time can they make an injectable form of the hormone it might become addictive if its not used for critical cases.
Love hormone is released during crises. Partners who were more invested in a relationship released more oxytocin when they thought about their relationship than the less invested partner did. Considering both members together, it was the difference in investment between partners that predicted an increase in oxytocin. Here, oxytocin may be acting more like a 'crisis hormone.' Ref.
