Artemis enters first, the rest of you follow. The door way and broken ceiling allows enough light in to show the layout. The inner walls of the hallway in which you now stand are covered with moss and vines. The first impression you get is that if it is a temple then it is not maintained at all. The ground has a lot of leaves and mud. There are foot prints going in that follows the hallway deeper in but none of these footprints are going out the way you came in!
Uhura checks for harmful chemicals and amazingly she detects low level radiation which is just on the borderline of being harmful should it increase. As you walk deeper in it becomes darker and the moss, leaves / mud on the floor fade away. A musky smell engulfs your nose as the darkness ahead brings you to a stop unless you activate a light source.
GM: Say what you wish to do now.
GM: All these actions are happening at the same time within the space of less than a minute.
Major can see that the tunnel continues for around 20 feet and then ends at a passageway that appears to be going downward. Before this there are door-sized openings to the left and right.
Seth decides to begin a slow blind walk into the darkness with no apparent concern for where he may end up.
Uhura is analyzing the elements. So far all checks out with the surroundings save for the radiation which she believes is coming from underneath the ground.
Artemis looks for a device among her things that will enable her to see. She pulls out her chemical detector which has a dim light that can show up to about 4-5 feet ahead.
Gault stands where he is deep in a stupor of thought about the correlation of the plant life to the radiation.
You hear some drips of liquid up ahead, they sound like they're hitting a hard surface.
GM: Say what you wish to do now.
Artemis tries to stop Seth who seems insistent on just walking blindly. At the same time she attempts to look into the passageways but her light source does not reveal much as they appear to lead to large rooms.
Gault moves next but can find nothing more than Artemis.
Uhura maintains watch using her analyzer, so far everything appears to be within a range of human toleration.
When Major looks in he is able to see clearly with use of his electronic binoculars. The room on the left (20'x20') appears to have nothing in it from where you stand.
The room on the right (20'x40') has a rather strong smell of moss and mildew. You can see the trickling of water on the far corner of the ceiling has caused a puddle of water to form on the floor. You see what you believe to be a few small frogs in the water but they have an unusual shape so you are not sure if they are rats. There does not appear to be anything else here.
GM: Seth's unusual behavior may trigger an argument between him and Artemis. Its up to you if you wish to role-play that in the Brainstorm Thread. On the next action I will also need to know if Seth will simply descend into the passageway ahead regardless of Artemis. Say what you wish to do now.
Major and Gault check the left room while Uhura remains to continue monitoring things with her element analyzer.
Gault is not really seeing much but Major can make out crude drawings on the walls. They depict what looks like a powerful being coming from the stars and speaking to some people who worship the being. Other pictures show a more complex history that Major does not readily understand.
Meanwhile...
Artemis and Seth move forward as Uhura looks on. You slowly walk for around a minute or two following the descent and...
GM: At this time I only need actions for Gault, Major and Uhura.
Uhura joins Major and Gault who are both trying to understand the unusual drawings on the ancient looking wall. None of you can decipher the meaning of it. The more you look at it the more you question the possibilities: Is it a language? Is it a drawing? Is it just scribbles? One thing is clear is the drawing of the central being and those engaged in the worship.
Meanwhile...
Seth and Artemis keep following the passageway which eventually leads to a dog leg and goes back in the direction you came in a continued descent. You then come to a stop as a very large stone wall with strange inscriptions or drawings blocks your path from continuing.
GM: Say what you wish to do now.
As Seth looks on, Artemis does some logical probing. As far as Artemis can tell with her hands and eyes it is just what it is: A wall with inscriptions that do not resemble anything or any language you know. Words such as ancient, heavy and solid come to your mind.
Around this time...
As Gault looks on from the backs of Uhura and Major they move slightly into the next room taking a cautious approach by staying near the doorway. Uhura picks up the readings on the frogs which has a modified DNA so the frog is not typical or known.
Major can confirm Uhura's findings as he concludes that the creatures have the head of a frog but a body of what looks like a rat with no tail. The room is very warm, damp and smells musty.
GM: I need to know if Uhura, Gault and Major will push further into the room. I still need actions from everyone - say what you wish to do.
GM: No response for Gault so we move on. Artemis' action (Dialogue) ignored - that is for Brainstorm, I require only actions.
As Uhura continues to monitor, Major moves forward. As he does so the frog-like creatures begin to scatter about and make the most strange of sounds which could be compared to the way a parrot squawks but not as loud. This startles Major as he catches his bearings and tries to control his fear.
Gault can only see darkness and the sound the frog-like creatures make disturbs him terribly - did 'something' bad happen to Major he wonders. Gault awkwardly backs up and trips himself falling backwards onto his bum by the doorway in the corridor.
GM: Major should use the In-house D20 first against Mind. If the number is above then on your next Post please roll for combat, you can use the Embedded dice for now.
Meanwhile...
While Artemis is still clearly under the high of the native's drugs she says she wants to take a piss... And starts to look for a spot nearby much to the dismay of Seth. Seth, trying to avoid the scene, begins looking for something he can credibly feel as a sign of an opening but he does not. He curses the fact that your light is really inadequate to find anything. The smell of hot urine fills the area.
GM: Say what you wish to do now.
Major almost starts firing out of fright but manages to catch himself. He replies to Uhura's call.The frog-like creatures scurry about the room trying to get away while their strange sound dampens.
As Major starts examining more of the room he notices the water is entering from an open section of one of the walls that has been broken into by the root of a very large tree. The space between the wall and root is probably large enough for you to fit into but where it leads you do not know as a lot of overgrowth blocks your sight. This probably used to be a doorway at some point.
In other parts of the room you can see tadpoles swimming in the deeper pools of water. There are few small plants growing on the floor directly opposite and around the root of the tree. On the walls near the tree's root there is a lot of moss and the room almost seems to act as a green house for the inhabitants.
Around this time...
The others have not discovered anything new.
