Future Earth - Jungle Biowarfare RPG - Page 5

The Game Master says...

Uhura decides to concentrate and see if she can understand what the soldiers are saying. It seems to be a common tongue taught at the linguistics academy but there seems to be heavy use of slang or dialect.

GM: Roll D100 and +10%. You need at least a 60 for success.

Some of you delay boarding the ATV bus but the agitated soldiers move you along faster with shouts and hand movements. It seems that they have come for what they wanted and are no longer interested in you keeping them back.

Thomas delays even longer and one of the soldiers uses the butt of his gun to hit him forcefully on the back. Thomas yells from the pain as he is shoved into the ATV bus.

GM: Thomas takes -1HP. Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

Uhura tries her best to comprehend what they are saying but the dialect is not something she is familiar with thus leaving her ignorant as to what is being said.

The rest of you remain seated as the soldiers give the signal to the ATV bus driver to move on. The driver shuts the doors, starts the engine and slowly moves forward. Some of the passengers start to clap in happiness that nothing more came of it and yet you cannot see any celebration in not having everyone on board.

As you move on you notice through the window that the pregnant woman is being taken away into the forests, she looks back at you longingly as though her last hope is vanishing away.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

Uhura asks the bus driver about the recent inncident with the pregnant woman. He seems apprehensive about talking and he is not able to converse in your language well enough so he simply says,

"Is bad, very very bad, this girl bad girl. Sit down please... Sit down."

Uhura feels the man is just trying to move past the whole affair as he continues driving. After about 15 minutes you are finally at an interesting looking tourist village known to you as "Village C" But to the natives it is simply: "Pequena Aldeia". This is the final stop of the ATV bus. As you disembark you are greeted by many of the natives offering you their services as guides, places to stay, places to eat, etc.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

Ignoring the gestures of the natives you split up into your own survey of the village. You have never seen such a run down place before. There are some tourists spots that seemed to be 'prettied' up with paint and banners but in general the infrastructure is wanting.

Lars looks around for any building or anyone that looks like a weapons dealer using his Streetwise skills.

GM: I need a D100 for Lars. Odds: 20% + 10% bonus. The lower the number the more favorable (30% success chance).

Seth and Thomas investigate the more subtle pleasures of the body. There is a small out door restaurant available. For 20 Real you can have a plate of "Feijoada" With some fruit juice. Seated are some locals but mostly some tourists. You are not sure if they know your language or not.

Nathan and Uhura try to ascertain the Villagers and their life within the Village. You can see that the people are poor and look towards foreigners for a living. As you watch over them they curiously watch back at you noticing that you are not the typical tourists. You catch yourself staring at some points and the questions of what you need is once again asked of you by the locals.

Major finds what is supposed to be a tourist center. There are all kinds of trinkets here that a typical tourist will want and you do see some in the process of browsing through the items.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

Lars, having failed to find someone that will sell arms and ammunition to him, returns to the rest of the squad who are now engaged in ordering and partaking in the local grub.

GM: Those of you that ate the food please roll against Body.

Meanwhile...

Seth looks for a machine that can give him Real, but such technology is too advanced for the run down village, thus it is not available. He does learn about a guy who has a credit scanner and can do a private exchange with you.

Around this same time...

Major buys a tourist map of the area for 10 Crs. He then inquires about the area. The shop owner tells him that most tourists come this way for hiking and camping. The village acts as a last 'civilized' stop before going deeper into the jungle. He points out on the map the places you learned about at the military base such as C2 and C3.

The Game Master says...

Seth talks to a rather shady looking character who says that he can do a 3:1 exchange with you but he will do no less than 300 Crs.

GM: Do you accept?

Meanwhile...

Major buys a tourist guide for 30 Real. It contains some information about the country, best hotels and places to visit (including your current location).

GM: Make sure you are deducting these expenses.

Around this time...

The rest of the group are sitting and waiting. Those that are eating the local food cannot believe how tasty it is as they consume each mouthful.

Everyone gets a signal on their communicator (this is a very small device attached to your ear with an additional visual front for your eye). A soft but stern voice identifies herself as your mission communication specialist. On your visual you see the logo of the base you started from while she speaks. She tells you of a certain building within your current location where you can go to collect the arms.

"You need to ask for a man named, "Jouber" And give him the code: "Algo melhor do que isso", he will then give you a package. Do not open it until you are alone in Sector C2. Communication terminated."

The Game Master says...

Nathan waits while the rest of you make your way to Jouber's location according to the message given to you via the comm. The building is located on the edge of the village very close to Sector C2. The surroundings look very ghetto with graffiti adoring the walls around. Some men on the streets are idling around while sizing you up. The address itself gives the appearance of a hideout. There is a large mental door to the entrance which Seth knocks. A native looking man wearing many controversial tattoos answers through a window. Seth says "Jouber?" And gives him the keywords, the man nods and then he opens up the door. He waves you in while counting you. He then shuts the heavy metal door and asks in a thick accent,

"Where is last one?"

You figure he is referring to Nathan and explain to him his current location. Jouber is annoyed by this and says,

"This is game? He come get his package for self."

He then flicks his hand and you follow him down a corridor passed a room with what looks like gang members all comfortably armed and doing the yester year vice of smoking roll-ups but the odor from their after burn is not one of simple tobacco. You then go into a basement where Jouber opens up a cabinet. In it there are a wide variety of weapons: both archaic and modern but none that are high tech. He says,

"You take what you need OK?"

You look closer and see all varieties of shotguns, rifles, grenade launchers, blades, etc.

GM: Select any weapon you want and the ammunition you feel you can carry keeping in mind your mission and what you can do with that weapon. There are no laser weapons here. Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

GM: For Thomas' choice are you talking about the first one with the scope? That is a rifle.

You each take your firearm of choice and ammunition for it.

GM: Make sure to document this in your Equipment list and make it separate from your other items.

Nathan is informed that you made a pickup and that he should collect his package. After awhile and with some scolding he joins you to select his firearm.

GM: In like manner Nathan should take a weapon of his choice and let me know what it is in the next action.

Jouber then closes the cabinet. He advises those of you with weapons that cannot be concealed to find a way to keep them hidden because having any kind of firearm in the country is illegal without a permit. He offers some music instrument cases or some table cloths to wrap it up.

GM: I will need to know if and what you take from this offer.

You are escorted back up the stairs and Jouber, who is now quite happy this task is finished asks,

"Hey, you want some 'stuff' to go? You guys do good business, I give you small gift no?"

GM: Say what you wish to do now.
