Out of Character: : Hi, I'm new here. I just have a quick question. Since this is the Brainstorm thread, is everything we say here Out Of Character, or are we supposed to be roleplaying our conversations? I'm still figuring out how this all works.
Out of Character: Welcome to our thread, really cool to have a new player after so long. Yes you can role-play here and then post actions in the leader thread. But right now your character and mine's doesn't know each other so we really do not interact but if you want to understand anything feel free to ask I can help. Also its only when JB starts back the game in the Future Earth - Jungle Biowarfare Role-playing Game do we start putting actions. I think there are a couple of others besides you coming in as well.
Stepping out of the undergrowth Seth looks at you, "Sorry for watching but I have been a bit lost in the jungle here for a long time and I did not think I would ever see another person. I guess I have not seen a female for a long time sorry for staring. Oh by the way my name is Seth"
Artemis flashes him a big smile, extends her hand, and says, "Artemis McKenzie, darn glad to meet you." She looks Seth up and down, then looks past him to see if he brought any friends along. "So, you've just been wandering alone in this jungle?"
She takes a quick look behind her, to see if anyone is sneaking up, and then snaps her attention back to Seth. Still smiling, "So, Seth, do you have any idea what's going on here? Why are we stranded in this katzenjammer jungle?"
Out of Character: : Note that Artemis does not actually speak Yiddish, but is absolutely convinced that she does.
"Oh! Where are my manners? I promised you a dinner!" Artemis digs through the case of rations, always keeping an eye on Seth. "Beef stew. How pedestrian. If I had a proper kitchen, I'd whip some chicken korma that would make you weep. Or vindaloo. I'd kill for some vindaloo."
She gets a far away look in her eyes, finds a pan, sniffs it, and shrugs her shoulders. "Clean enough", she says with a smile. She rips open the MRE and dumps the contents into the pan.
"Now I just need to figure out how to work this tchatchke camp stove. What I need you to do is watch the perimeter. Keep an eye peeled for spiderillas. I think I spotted one earlier."
She happily stirs the food, singing softly to herself, till it's warm, then spoons it up onto a plate. "Ummm. Yummy. Just like mom used to make. Here you go, dinner is served." She hands the plate to Seth, along with a bottle of water.
"Many thanks Artemis. Yes I have been lost in this jungle for a long time we were supposed to meet some natives that like to eat people and see about getting some information about something but it has been a long time ago and my mind has not been on the mission for a long time. There were others some died and others wandered on without me. I do not know if the others are alive or not or where they are." Seth sits down and enjoys the hot meal and fresh water.
Artemis reaches out to touch him, but pulls her hand back. "Oh, you poor, poor man, she says with real sympathy, "I'm so sorry this happened to you."Her eyes start to get a little watery.
"So, let my get this straight. You were sent here to spy on the natives? Why would...Oh!" Her eyes get wide as the answer dawns on her. "The minerals!"
"That's it, isn't it? They want to strip mine this planet, and we're supposed to tell them where to dig. Well, we're getting out of here. I didn't sign up for cannibal natives...unless I actually did, and they wiped my memory. By Frigga's tears, I feel like I'm living in a Philip K Dick novel."
She rummages around till she finds the military grade regional encrypted communicator she was issued, and shows it to Seth. "We just need to fire this thing up, and call for help. Tell them we need a medivac, and an extraction. Then we can form up a search party and look for your friends."
She puts the comm down. "Except you would have already thought of that. Is there something else I don't know? Is there some reason we shouldn't call for help?"
In Character: "Uhurah, I don't know, I get this funny feeling that something is about to change for us here, do you get that feeling?"
