Each passes like an hour for Uhura. She nods her head at Major hoping the time will pass by quickly and she isn't just dreaming all of this only to be awaken in a lab back at base.
After helping Seth smear the hand sanitizer on the bites, she props her backpack against a tree so Seth can use it as a backrest. "You rest a little bit, okay? I'm going to see how the G-man is doing." She tousles his hair, gives him a smile, and gets up.
She walks over to where Gault is, looks up, and asks, "Are you doing okay up there? I think Seth's a little shook up, but he'll be okay, you got him out in time." She paces a bit.
"Have you had any ideas about what we're going to do when we get to the village? I mean, how we're actually going to get them out? I have an idea I've been working on, but I'd like to hear yours first."
Gault chuckles a little bit as he continues to smear the soap over his bites and exposed skin.
"Quick thinking with the soap, there."
Pausing for a bit, Gault's gaze gets real distant, like someone who is focusing on something far away, then he seems to snap back into his body.
"These details are fuzzy, but I believe getting into and out of the village is easy part. The real challenge comes from staying under the radar of the media and at least one corporation."
Gault scratches his head for a minute or two, half expecting to find ants there as well, then remembers what he was thinking. "I believe that this is a covert intel mission. We will be there to gather facts and details."
"Well, the villagers, aren't just going to let us walk in and take our friends, are they? I'm thinking we're going to have to force the issue."
She takes a a long breath.
"And the only way I've thought of to do that is for you and Seth to use all those guns Seth is toting to lay down some suppression fire to keep the villagers pinned down while I try to sneak in and do the extraction."
She lowers her eyes, looking away.
"And I am hoping and praying that you have a better plan than that, because I don't want to kill a whole bunch of people tonight."
"If it comes down to shooting our way out, then we have messed things up. Messed them up real bad."
"We need a quick extraction for sure. Something ...," Gault trails off for a bit, like an electronic device losing power. Then just as quickly, he seems to power right back up, " ... Like the FTLs the military is working on."
Artemis nods, and slowly backs away. "Uh huh, yeah. Good talk. I'm going to go check on Seth now."
She walks over to Seth. "Seth! Buddy! Are you feeling any better?" She sits down next to him. "Listen, have you had any ideas about what we're going to do when we get to the village?"
"Well I think that once we get to the village we will meet up with the others I got lost from and we will take it from there. If they are still alive we can see what happens and see what we can do to get the info we were sent here to gather then get out safely without getting injured with their poisoned darts. Other wise I am good just did not need to get bit up today. This is not the first time I had a run in with ants. I swear I am going to go on a crusade to rid the world of ants. Pesky little creatures." Seth smiles as he looks at Artemis, "How are you doing?"
With the sounds of movement ahead, Gault reaches forward and grabs Seth's shirt. When Seth looks at Gault, he puts a finger to his lips for silence, then motions to his ears to signal they all listen, and then he points to spots for cover, signalling that they should wait and see.
Gault checks where he is going carefully and quietly LOOKING out for fire ants.
