Taking Finger Prints In Trinidad Police Station

I went into a local Police Station today to get a Certificate of Character. Part of the process involves an officer taking your finger prints. An officer has to ink a roller, rub it on a pad and then carefully hold your hands and put it on an application form for the Certificate of Character. The service from the officers were good but come on, why haven't the police here been given electronic finger print technology as yet? How can we say this is 21st Century Policing and not give the police the technology to make their work faster? Just think of cut in paperwork, money, time and so forth that will make getting any kind of finger prints a breeze.

Station Police Trinidad Prints Finger Taking

You would be surprised on how many areas do not have the electronic finger print machines. Many places still use the roll the finger in in the ink and put on card method. I do this myself when I need my prints taken. I have known how to roll prints for well over 20 years now.

I can understand that but when you have such a high rate of crime as we do in Trinidad (See here) and a state that requires a Police Certificate of Character for many applications it takes up very valuable time that officers could be spending on cases. I see such things as a necessity.
