World Food Day

Do you get involved in the activities of World Food Day? If your country is part of the UN then for sure they will have some kind of activity scheduled.

Each year on 16 October, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations celebrates World Food Day in commemoration of its founding on that day in 1945 at Quebec City, Canada. The theme for World Food Day and TeleFood campaign for 2004 is "Biodiversity for Food Security". It will highlight biodiversity's role in ensuring that people have sustainable access to enough high-quality food to lead active and healthy lives.

Day Food World

World food day is only a month away. I encourage all of you to donate to any local food pantry you support from church to a place like harvesters. Please don't forget that there are starving people around the world all year around, not just at christmas and thanksgiving.

World Food Day Reviews Consumer & Travel Family Culture

I've not heard of world food day before, but it seems to be around the time that Britains hold their Harvest festival services within churches and schools.

When I was younger, many moons ago laugh.gif, we used to have to bring in fresh fruit and vegetables, which was delivered and donated to local elderly people, over the years, it has changed, and went through a stage where only tinned, non perishable foods were accepted, and now these days, very few places actually collect food or food goods, they all tend to want money donations to send abroad to help poor people.

I was wondering whether this turn around over the years has anything to do with world food day, without actually saying that it is?
Of course it could just be coincidence..
