North Korea attempts new missile launch, but it fails. The reclusive nation attempted to fire the missile early Sunday, according to multiple media outlets citing South Korean officials. The move comes a day after a military parade displayed new missiles and other military hardware alongside goose-stepping soldiers in a show of military strength and defiance. President Trump has warned the isolated regime to avoid or face unspecified consequences. Ref. USAToday.
Yes, there are whole units in the militaries of the world whose express purpose is to deceive the enemy by making it seem like an army is stronger than it appears (A good way to keep from being attacked), create make believe units (A good way to make an enemy react to a make believe threat, and/or show off make believe capabilities (Look stronger or make an enemy invest in counter technologies).
General Rommel of the fames German Afrika Korps in WW II was a master at this. He'd have carpenters build mock tanks that he'd deploy to fake tank parks in the desert. Then he'd deploy radio operators there to transmit radio transmission from fake units. The British would deploy to counter that threat and he'd attack from a whole different direction, catching them completely off guard.
The Kim regime reminds me a lot of the Pre-Iraq War era with Saddam constantly bolstering the terror he would cause to any that would invade his country and we all know how that turned out. Kim does the same thing but because it is highly unlikely his territory will be invaded by ground troops his soldiers are virtually useless. Therefore, his main assault will be concentrated on South Korea through bombardment. What I am interested to know is if there has been any build up around the DMZ. If there is then Kim might want to cross that line - he is crazy enough to allow it to protect his demi-god image for his people.

If there has been a build up of troops on the DMZ we have not heard of it. Plus the fact that if they did we have a whole division on the ground there along with a lot of ROK soldiers who I think we keep from invading the north more than just being there to protect the south. I too would like to know what type of build up the south may be doing too.
Yes, there have been one or two times the South wanted to invade and we stopped them. They are a rich country, unlike NK, and their equipment is modern, and they have more of it… other than artillery. That is the other things stopping them. Unless they know they could make incredible fast progress and roll over the vast majority of the guns pointed t them, and count on us to shot down nukes headed their way, they aren't going to go north. Doing so would mean the virtual destruction of many of their largest cities from Seoul north. And to what end? China will not allow NK to fall completely. They like that buffer state.
