Baseball...I just don't understand what is all the fuzz about it. That is a sport that needs little physical condition and even more: what do they need a coach for? His only duty is to decide who get to play and ...oh, wait that is all he does ! If there will be ani tactics involved there that would be different.
I think I have enough experience watching and enough British ancestry to say that only the U.K. could have been the origin of Cricket - a game with so little substance that lasts for so long. Unlike many on this board, I do enjoy Rugby, and I like league more than union. I don't particularly understand the reasons for Aussie Rules football, but I think the point is mostly that they are generally obsessed with sport down there, and why not?
As far as sports I ACTUALLY don't understand, Curling has to be at the top of my list. You know, that game with brooms and big metallic things on the ice? I don't get it. I have also never bothered to learn the rules of American football, because I can never stand to watch it for more than ten minutes.
What about the one with the small raquet and some type of ball? I cannot remember the name now. It is a very strange game. Rugby is very popular in Argentina but such a dangerous sport! A guy I know there lost his eye in a game.
Without a doubt, it has to be curling. I saw this sport in the winter olympics and was shocked that there were actually people that desired to excel at this endevour. Probably even more amazing to me was the fact that there were people in the arena that paid to WATCH curling.
Just a thought,
Vincenzo
I understand the aspect of actually playing the sport, what ever that may be, but I just cannot comprehend watching sports. To me watching a two hour game of baseball, basketball, or golf would drive me insane from utter boredom.
I think pigeon racing is a sport I always love covering but can never understand. You meet the most eccentric people who take part in this strange sport.
There is really only so much joy you can get out of realising your pigeon hasn't been killed by another bird and makes it back home.
Curling, that sport is so unusual that it's just fun to watch, the 2 people bent over...brooms? and scrubbing the ice so fiercely I just can't help but laugh. As for sports I can't understand, car racing in general, NASCAR racing specifically. You are supposed to be the fastest, but your car isn't allowed to be faster than anybody elses. And then 500 laps in a circle, that would just get annoying.
