Moulin Rouge!

I saw the first 10 minutes and I was turned off, so I also turned off the television. When I looked on the net I saw great ratings... did I miss something?

JB, I dont doubt that you were turned off. I was turned off merely from the previews! I havent seen the movie, and frankly dont intend to see it unless it is free on TV someday and there is nothing else good to watch.

Moulin Rouge! Sports & Fashion Music Movies

I bought the video on sale for something like $6.00 and thought it was a great deal. When I popped in the tape, I watched about 10 or 15 minutes and just about died! It went straight into the trash. What garbage! You didn't miss anything, JB.

Okay. I have to say that I agree with you on the racy content. I have heard many people say that they turned it off after 15 minutes, too. I saw this movie on tv and I absolutely loved it! I think that it is a beautiful story about the power of love to transform a person into someone better. Love saves the courtesan, Satine, from a life of mere survival and makes her choose to give up her corrupt lifestyle that she didn't think that she could do without. Even though there were scenes that showed intimate situations without being married, I was able to get beyond that to the heart of the movie. The music is fabulous! I got the CD as soon as I could and I listen to it a lot. I just posted the lyrics to one of the songs from the movie in the lyrics thread, since it is one of my favorite songs. I just feel that it is wonderful to see love lift someone from a poor situation to a better one. I would recommend that you put that movie back in and watch the whole thing, then judge it. I know that a movie is purely entertainment, but take for example, me, and if you looked at the beginning years of my life and thought that it was terrible and sleazy, you wouldn't get to see the wonderful place I am at now and the transformation process getting there. I know, probably a poor analogy and a dramatic comparison. smile.gif
