When you read the title you might think these women shouldn't be in jail but what they did is clearly abuse and I can only imagine the poor babies not able to move their legs or arms for hours!

Nazila Sharaf, 35, and Lida Sharaf, 33, are facing three counts of felony child abuse and neglect and four counts of misdemeanor child abuse and neglect. The babies they had swaddled were 7 months to 1 year old -- well beyond the age for which swaddling is recommended.
They also tied the blankets with what the police described as "heavy-duty knots" rather than simply tucking and folding the cloth around the babies, making it nearly impossible for the children to move their arms and legs. Here in Indonesia is still quite common to swaddle babies, during the first three months of their life, not more, while in my native country, Italy, nobody does that anymore since long time. Swaddling doesn't mean restraining, which I believe is a more appropriate word for what these women were doing, according to the source. When my wife was building a cloth chrysalis around our kid, to help his legs grow straight she kept saying (I always had my doubts but, hey, no arm was done so...), she has always been careful to not tighten them too much and never used anything, not even a pin, to block those clothes in place. The swaddling operation always had to be repeated every 2 or three hours, if the kid was not moving so much, and only during his sleeping time. Never during the day. I can imagine which kind of torture it can be for a 1 year old kid that has a different mobility from a newborn. It doesn't surprise me that these women have to face a trial since what they did is absolutely an abuse, almost a torture.

The disgusting part is that they don't think they did anything wrong! You know when I read stories like this I imagine how many babies and children are being abused as I write this and it makes me very frustrated because I cannot help them!
