Just pure wickedness and selfishness. Is this woman for real? I cannot believe for the life of me that a mother could do this to her own daughter! The saddest part is that the daughter said she did it because she thought her mother would love her more if she did since she was also adopted. So tragic.

This is a terrible story. This woman might be suffering from some kind of mental affliction: maybe her condition as an adopted child marked so hard her life that she felt a terrible compulsion to raise babies the way she would have wanted to be raised herself. I'm not trying to defend the woman, what she did is terrible, but I believe there's a deeper explanation behind it.

Perhaps but she shouldn't be allowed to have children under her care. Where was Social Services all this time to ensure the safety of these kids?

Social services can do a good job sometimes and other times they make it worst than it was. Not only where was Social services but the case worker should be held accountable.

I would not blame social services. What happened was unpredictable and, unless that woman ever gave reason to somebody for suspecting something, how would they know that she planned something like this. Do social services regularly check on every divorced parents in the US? In Europe they don't, unless they have a legal reason to do that. The fact that this woman got an adoption request rejected doesn't mean anything: that happens quite often and doesn't mean that something is wrong with the person. So I don't see what should attract social services' attention and where they were faulty.
