Senior defense officials say Pentagon chief Leon Panetta is removing the military's ban on women serving in combat, opening hundreds of thousands of front-line positions and potentially elite commando jobs after more than a decade at war. The groundbreaking move recommended by the Joint Chiefs of Staff overturns a 1994 rule banning women from being assigned to smaller ground combat units. Panetta's decision gives the military services until January 2016 to seek special exceptions if they believe any positions must remain closed to women. Ref. USAToday
Will women have to register for the draft
Now that the Pentagon is lifting its ban on women in combat, questions arise as to whether they can be drafted too.

If a woman wants to go front lines I say let them go, BUT I'm worried about this. I just would hate to see one of our women caught by the enemy. Also, wasn't there like a study done once that showed if a female combatant was injured in a team it would distract the males to the point that they would leave their mission to help the female?
